For two decades, “CastleBranch” was shorthand for student compliance in nursing and allied health. Directors put it in handbooks. Students memorized package codes. That era is over, and it ended in three distinct steps. Here is the documented timeline, with no spin — followed by what we think programs should actually do about it.
The timeline
- 1997 – 2024: the independent years. CastleBranch, founded in 1997, built its name on background screening and compliance tracking for students in health sciences.
- March 1, 2024: the sale. DISA Global Solutions — a Houston-based employee screening conglomerate serving more than 30% of the Fortune 500 — acquired CastleBranch’s screening and compliance business. The clinical experience platform, CB Bridges, was excluded from the deal and spun off as “Bridges EXP.”
- June 30, 2026: Bridges shuts down. Bridges EXP announced it would cease operations entirely on this date. Rotation scheduling, document management, clinical site coordination — all of it went offline, forcing programs to migrate mid-summer, right before fall placements. - 2026: the name disappears. DISA announced that CastleBranch “has officially rebranded to DISA Healthcare Technology,” moving schools and students to disahealthcare.com. On its school-facing portal pages, DISA Healthcare states it supports more than 2,500 colleges and universities nationwide, helping over one million users maintain compliance.
Why this matters more than a logo swap
Vendor consolidation is not automatically bad — but it is never neutral, and your program absorbs the friction. Three practical consequences are already visible:
- Student confusion is real and immediate. Handbooks, orientation slides, and bookmarked links across the country still say “CastleBranch.” Students now get bounced between castlebranch.com, MyCB logins, and disahealthcare.com. Every confused student becomes a coordinator’s email.
- Two “competitors,” one owner. With American DataBank/Complio also operating as a DISA Healthcare company, a program comparing “CastleBranch vs. Complio” today is comparing two products with the same corporate parent. - Big-platform economics. Published school materials show what students pay at that scale: one Virginia health sciences college lists its MyCB package at $153.98, and Complio’s own published FAQ states orders are non-refundable and cannot be canceled once placed. When a million students run through one pipeline, the pipeline sets the terms.
